An estimate of the value for particular coins can be found by entering the spot value from above in the below form and clicking Submit.
If you have silver or gold to sell, I may be able to purchase depending on the quality. To estimate the value of your silver or gold coins, use the below method:
1. Find the current spot price of silver or gold using the above widget. This price is the Bid Price above.
The price is specified in Troy Ounces. A troy ounce is not what you would typically measure on a home scale. A home scale measures an ounce as 28.35 grams. A Troy Ounce is 31.1 grams.
2. Determine the weight of your silver or gold coin in Troy Ounces. This can be determined by weighing the coin on a scale that measures in grams and then converting to Troy Ounces by dividing the weight in grams by 31.1.
OR
if you have the weight in standard ounces (28.35 grams), convert to grams by multiplying by 28.35, then convert to Troy Ounces by dividing by 31.1.
3. Multiply the weight in Troy Ounces by the Bid Price from the widget to get the base value of the silver or gold content of your coin.
4. Multiply the base value by the percent silver or gold content of your coin to get the estimated value of the silver or gold in your coin.
Example: You have a silver coin that weighs 16.2 grams and is 90% silver. The current Bid Price from the widget is $25.00 per Troy Ounce.
1. Convert the weight to Troy Ounces: 16.2 grams / 31.1 grams = 0.52 Troy Ounces
2. Calculate the base value: 0.52 Troy Ounces * $25.00 = $13.00
3. Calculate the estimated silver value: $13.00 * 0.90 = $11.70
Therefore, the estimated value of the silver in your coin is $11.70.
My conversion rate is 85% of the estimated silver or gold value. So in this example, I would offer you $9.95 for the silver in your coin.
This value is the lowest price I would pay for the silver or gold in your coin. If the coin has numismatic value (collector value) above the silver or gold content value, then I may be willing to pay more depending on the coin's condition and rarity.
